Disabled Students Allowance (DSA)

What is Disabled Students Allowance?

The Disabled Students Allowance (DSA) helps with costs disabled students incur as a direct result of a disability such as a physical disability, a mental health difficulty, long-term illness or a specific learning difficulty such as dyslexia.

Who can apply?

  • Students with disabilities
  • Full-time or part-time students
  • Undergraduates and postgraduates
  • There is no age limit
  • You can apply for the DSA at any time during your course.

Is DSA the same as a Student Loan?

  • No
  • DSA is not means-tested
  • It does not have to be repaid

What could I expect to receive help with?

Depending on your needs, support from the DSA could include specialist equipment, non-medical helpers and exam support.
