Advanced Dyscalculia Screening

If you feel you struggle with numeracy, there may be a reason for it.

What is an Advanced Dyscalculia Screening?

An Advanced Dyscalculia Screening Test is an assessment designed to identify the probability of Dyscalculia within an individual.  Dyscalculia is a specific learning difficulty that affects the understanding of numbers, mathematical concepts and the ability to perform everyday day calculations.

It is the first stage of testing that you would do if you have any concerns about Dyscalculia affecting you or your child. This type of screening evidences any learning difficulties, identifies strengths and weaknesses and helps with developing appropriate support at home or at school.

What’s Included

What’s Included Your Dyscalculia Screening includes a private, one-to-one session with an assessor who understands maths anxiety. The activities are carefully chosen, age-appropriate, and designed to gently explore areas such as sense of number, magnitude estimation, maths attainment, memory and processing speed.

This builds a clear picture of strengths and weakness allowing for appropriate support to be provided. You will talk through the results with the assessor, and you will receive the results of the screening via email by the end of the day.

Who It Helps

Anyone aged 7 and above who is struggling with numeracy. The screening test results will provide a profile of attainment and allow the assessor to identify where your numeracy skills lie and areas that may need additional work.

This information is really useful for educators, parents and carers as it can inform their teaching practise. Additionally, your assessor is experienced in other learning difficulties such as ASD and ADHD and if any tendencies of these are present, they will happily discuss this with you. Even if no learning difficulty or neurodiversity is identified the process can be very enlightening and cathartic.
