What is an Advanced Dyslexia Screening?
An Advanced Dyslexia Screening Test is an assessment designed to identify the probability of Dyslexia within an individual. A specific learning difficulty that affects reading, spelling, and writing.
It is the first level of testing that you would undertake if you have any suspicions that Dyslexia may be affecting you or your child. A screening produces evidence of any learning difficulties, identifies strengths and weaknesses and helps parents and educators formulate appropriate support.
How it Works
The Appointment
You will meet with a specialist assessor with qualifications in testing. They will answer any questions you may have about neurodiversity, guide you through the testing process, and then explain the results and discuss further actions.
The Location
All of our assessments are conducted face-to-face. This can be either at our centre in central Norwich or online through secure conferencing software. You will work in a private room with the assessor, and supporters are also welcome to attend.
The Process
Each appointment can last up to two hours. It consists of an initial chat to establish your situation, followed by the screening, and then the explanation of results. You will have plenty of time with your assessor to discuss your concerns and talk through possible support options.
The Result
We'll provide you with the results on the day. The assessor will talk through these results with you to ensure you fully understand them. We will also send you an electronic copy by the end of the day.
What’s Included
Your Dyslexia Screening includes a calm, one-to-one session with a specialist who takes time to understand how you or your child approaches literacy. The activities are carefully chosen, age-appropriate, and designed to gently explore areas such as reading, spelling, phonological awareness, memory and processing speed. This helps us build a clear picture of strengths and weakness.
You will have the opportunity to talk through the results with the assessor, and you will receive the results of the screening via email by the end of the day.

How long does the screening take?
The booking slot is for two hours, but the testing time is much shorter 30 to 45 minutes as the appointment includes an initial chat to establish education history and a results chat for analysis.
Do I need a referral?
No, you can book yourself in through our website, you can choose to undertake either a Dyslexia screening, Dyscalculia screening or both.
How do I get my results?
After testing the assessor will talk you through the results and make recommendations, they will then turn the results into a pdf and send them to you via email by the end of the day.
How do I pay?
You pay the assessor at the end of the appointment by either cash or card. Online appointments will be sent a secure payment link via text message.
Can I be with my child during their screening?
Yes, we recommend it. The more comfortable they are the better result we will achieve.
Is a screening the right level of testing for me?
If you struggle with numeracy and have never been assessed before, then a Dyscalculia screening is the best place to start.
