What is a Workplace Needs Assessment?
A Workplace Needs Assessment is a structured, one-to-one consultation designed to identify the adjustments, tools, and strategies that will enable an individual with Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, or related learning difficulties to perform at their best in their professional role.
It focuses on strengths, working style, and the specific demands of the job, ensuring that the recommendations are meaningful and practical.
How it Works
The Appointment
Your employee will meet with a specialist assessor with qualifications in learning difficulties. They will answer any questions you may have about learning difficulties and guide you through the assessment process, and discuss possible support.
The Location
All of our assessments are conducted face-to-face. This can be either at our centre in central Norwich or online through secure conferencing software. You will work in a private room with the assessor, and employers are also welcome to attend.
The Process
Each appointment can last up to two hours. It consists of a discussion to establish your situation, role, and review of medical evidence. This is then followed by a demonstration of possible support options and an in-depth discussion of the feasibility of these in your current employment.
The Result
The assessor will write up their notes from the meeting into a report, which will make specific recommendations to support you in your role. These recommendations will be the support you discussed and were demonstrated during your meeting with them.
What’s Included
Your Workplace Needs Assessment includes a one-to-one consultation where we explore your role, working style, and everyday tasks to understand how you work best. This conversation allows us to identify supportive approaches, technologies, and adjustments that can enhance confidence and effectiveness in your role.
You will receive a clear written report outlining the recommendations that will help you thrive at work.

Find out more about Workplace Needs Assessments
How long does the assessment take?
Approximately two hours, although this is broken up into stages, understanding your role, understanding your difficulties and looking at support options.
Can employers arrange the assessment directly?
Yes. Employers often arrange assessments to ensure they are providing appropriate support for their teams. We are happy to work with organisations of any size.
Will we get a report?
Yes, you will receive a report by email which includes recommendations for both employer and employee.
How do I pay?
Payment can be on the day by either cash or card, or we can raise an invoice.
Should I attend with my employee?
Should you wish to accompany your employee during their meeting, we warmly welcome your presence, however, it is not a requirement of the process.
Do I need a testing before having a workplace needs assessment?
Testing can be helpful, but it is not always required. The assessment is centred around practical support for your role, and we can guide you on whether further testing would be beneficial.
